What is the ideal lighting. I'm starting with a fowlr tank, and I bought a kit at the lfs. it came with the eclipse filter/lighting system. The lighting system says 18 watts, tank is 29 gallons, and i've got a sand substrate. When looking at bulbs in the store, i've seen ratings in K(kelvin). Does this rating make up for the lack of wattage??
I'm doing the whole making my own rock, and i've got a sand bed already in place, and now I want to get the cycle process started withmy tank. What steps should I do, now that i have sand, water, filtration set up. I've read that it's good to grab a hardy fish(damsel or clown) and go ahead and introduce to tank. Will my sand now become live sand after time or will i have to "seed" or introduce lr to it???
