Lighting but not really lighting question.......

I bought a T-5 / metal halide combo for my 15 nano.
Of course, like everything, the mounting legs are a pain in the butt and my tank is shaped oddly (there is no way to hang it where the tank is).
Sooo, while cursing and trying to rig it up, the strip fell into the tank. Luckily the GFI tripped and nothing, including me (whew) got shocked.
I took it apart and dried as much as I could and aimed a fan through the fixure.
The T-5's, one bulb won't fire at all, the other will fire but pops periodically.
The metal halide fires right up, no problems. I ran it for a while hoping to dry out the rest of the fixture.
I haven't had the nerve to try and refire the T-5's.
Anyone else had this happen?
What are my chances of this drying out and working properly? I am sick to my stomach over it.
I am also thinking about buying a different tank. This is my first reef nano aside from my dwarf seahorse tanks. So far, I have replaced everything, the lights, the filtration, etc. I have already scratched the acrylic and if I switched now, it would make fitting the lights, filters, etc so much easier.

Realistically there is no telling. You most likely shorted out something. It is just hit or miss whether it is a gonner or not.

Take the T5's out and clean the slots they fit in out really good. Doesn't sound like you have a spec T5 ballast in there, they will shut down with a bad lamp, short, loose lamp etc. On a rig with a non spec ballast you want to be sure the connection where the lamps mount in the endcaps don't have any salt in them, if it starts arcing or shorts out it can melt down the endcap or fry the pins on the lamps pretty easy.
