If anybody has this 260W Odyssea Power Compact light fixture, could you tell me how to correctly set up the mounting legs?

Sorry this is off topic, but where is a good place to purchase that same light?
My LFS has them, but for 210 which I heard is too much...

The main problem is that I bought the light because it is 48" long and I have a 55 gallon tank, but when i put the mounting legs on, it is too wide and the mounting legs cave inward. Would it be ok if I jsut layed the light across the top even if I have an open top tank?

i wouldn`t just lay the lights on the tank without a glass lid. i have the same lights, the mounting legs are poorly designed but mine do work and hold the lights "fairly" well...
roushracer ... thats more then twice what i payed for mine shipped ...

thats what i paid to... anyways, the small piece of the mounting bracket slides into the grooves on the bottom of the light fixture, then the mounting legs piece slides into that... ummm thats the best i can explain it... hope i helped you some anyways ...

i slid the first main pieces into the bottom, now what do i do with the other 2 pieces and the 4 screws left?

then the legs should slide into the pieces on the lights, they all slide in together into the light... the screws are to screw the light (or just to tighten) the legs to the tanks...lol... am i helping any ???

Im still confused about how both pieces slide into the light fixture. There are 2 bigger pieces that slide into the bottom of the light fixture only on one side I believe, and then there are 2 smaller pieces with grooves on one side and a rectangle cut of the middle. Where do the smaller pieces go?

i upgraded to the odyssea halides and it was much better.
i had the 36" model before that and i , too, coluldnt get the legs in seeing how the light fixture is as long as my tank and then the legs go in. I pushed them in as much as i could, but if i remember correctly, one side owuld keep sliding and the other would not (front and back side, not right and left...one side of each leg). So i think i just unhooked one of them and rested it on but it was still held by the other side of one leg, and entirely by the other leg.

the legs slide onto the light fixture...then u take the four screws and insert them into the sides of the braket and tighten it to the tank

I made a modification to the mounting legs:
I cut the side ribs off of the big piece that slides into the fixture. I then slid it in backwards, so that the piece sits in the groove that runs the length of the fixture where the moonlights are. This made the end of the fixture flush with the mounting legs so that i could successfully mount in on my 55g.
