Hello everyone!
I have finally got a very good price on lighting for my 65g tank! I plan on keeping a variety for different corals from soft to hard. I don't want to keep clams. Does this setup sound good to you!
Dual 175w halides with 10 000k bulbs
I also with use my NO flurecente for dawn and dusk.
Please let me know your advice.
thanks

Yeah man sounds good to me. I have a 36g bow that I have just ordered a single 175w medal halide system (10000K)for and I too will be using two N.O. actinics (7100K)for my dusk to dawn! Go for it man! German 10K is the best! I think you will be pleased!! The shimmering effect will be really cool! All this is my own opinion thought.....take it for what it is worth! If you do decide on it let us know how it is!

I was going to make a topic on this subject. I just started a 65 gallon and I plan on having a single 250 watt 10,000k MH with two 55 watt 50/50 power compacts. Hope this works Ok. Does this sound alright?

I have been shopping for lighting alot lately.
Can you give me a tip as to where you found your "very good" price?
I am stuck in debate between Compacts, VHO, MH or some combo...
So is yours an ABS hood with indp ctrls to create the dawn to dusk effect?
How exactly does that work? Is it gradual change of reducing the white light - or is it blue lights are on - all are on - blue lights are on again.
BTW, whats is NO?
Thanks for any help.

NO = normal output. these are regular florescent bulbs ( 20w, 40w etc.)
as for a good price, ive been looking into building my own MH for my new 55 gal. i can get a 275watt ballast for approx. 47.00. although its not an electric ballast i think i can live with it. i have a few 4" radio shack fans i plan on using to cool it down since they do run quite hot. as for the MH bulbs there really no way around the price. the light stores sell 250watters for $17.00 BUT, there only 4200k. you can build your own MH system ( if your handy with that stuff ) for around $100.00.
hth,
chris
