What sounds better for a 29 gallon reef... 2 55 watt 50/50 pc's or 3 55 watt 50/50 pc's.... I'm building my own hood so there will be plenty of room... I hope... :) Or if you think there is another lighting combination that is better, please let me know... I don't mind spending the money but I want to do it right..... Thanks...

How much is that going to run you? You can go with JBJ power compacts for about 160-180 which includes 2 55w and 2 actinics with a built in fan. You can get one that doesn't have a fan and it'll run cheaper. However, your system sounds to fine to me. I just started a 29g reef for my mother and I'm only using two 20w NO and one actinic. I'm only going soft corals though. Good luck.

Great size tank! My 29 has 2x65 watt PC's(both 10,000K) and 2x75 VHO(both actinic). BY the old rule of thumb (which really isnt that accurate) I have about 9 watts/gallon. Good luck with it! <img src="graemlins//urrr.gif" border="0" alt="[urrr]" />

i too have a small reef and have had great luck with the JBJ PC lighting, economical and reliable. everything it thriving in my tank with the exception of my plate coral.

I have a 29 gallon reef tank also. I have a custom built hood that holds three Coralife bulbs. Not sure but I think it comes out to be around 6 watts per gallon. I've had great luck with my reef.
