Lighting for anemone

Now correct me if I'm wrong but from what I've learned about in reading posts on anemone's, splitting is not the sign of a happy one, just the opposite. A happy anemone is supposed to grow big and fat. Any other comments?

You have not the correct information
Splitting, especially the Bubble Tips, is the way the species propagates itself, and is highly desirable, that is if you want more anemones! It is the sign of a very healthy tank indeed.
The people who raise these species, i.e., tank and farm raised, depend solely on this form of reproduction.

Actually you are half wrong, and half right :) while healthy anemones will split in the proper conditions, unhealthy anemones in under bad conditions may also split to try and insure survival of one.

Adrian, yes, it looks like I'll be going with the bubble tip after all after hearing so many success stories about them. I wanted the pink tip because that one would be accepted by my false perculas, but I've heard that in some cases they'll accept bubble tips too, so we'll see. But now that I know that condylactis aren't included in the "doomed" anemone group, I'll do so more research and consider one in the future.
By the way, thanks to everyone for their input on lighting and all the other topics that spun off from this thread. Looks like I'm starting to see the light (I know I know... terrible pun). Keep up the good work! :D
And Adrian... nice tank!!!

Thank you class clown, check out dr.mac, he sells captive bred bulb tipped anemones, which are very hardy.

I heartily second the recommendation for Dr. Mac. I purchased my BT's from him. His service is extraordinary. Extremely helpful. And the packaging is not to be believed. I received my order 18 hours after I placed it, at my front door.
I will order all my livestock from him. He is doing such a great service to our hobby, indeed a great service to the oceans of the world. And he KNOWS what he's doing.

Ah, I know I'm trading on thin ice here, but yes, DrMacCorals does have a web sight.
Bob, I see you are in Little Chute, WI. Here we are having our first winter storm tonight. It is a blizzard with 45-60 mph winds and snowing to beat you know what. I guess the old man has arrived! Oh yes, let's not forget the wind chill at -9.
