lighting for chaeto

I have recently put some chaeto in my sump. My LFS said they leave the light on their chaeto 24 hours a day. I have heard some people say run them the opposite of the display tank.
Can this decision affect growth rate of the chaeto, performance of the chaeto removing nitrates, or PH levels, etc.

I leave mine on 24/7 also. THe reason people sayto run them opposite of the DT is it will help keep your ph up after the lights go out in the DT. Either way is fine. As far as growth goes I think it will grow faster with lights on all the time but really it depends on what you have in the water to feed it.
