Lighting for Pods

The 1 fish I really want is a Mandarin Goby. A month ago I setup a refugium (see my signature) but I was wondering what lighting cycle I should use. Currently I run the lights in the 'fuge for 18 hours (taking the chance that my caulerpa won't go sexual). Is this enough "lights out" time to establish a thriving pod population? Also will my 6-line wrasse out compete the Mandarin for the pods that make it from the 'fuge to the main tank, I've heard various opinions.
Thanks, as always, for the feedback... Mike

The Flame Angel is my "show" fish if you will. It doesn't have the best personality, but damn is it pretty... Best personality is a toss up between my gramma or my 6-line's...
