AAFrom the research I've done these 3 lights will work fine with great results. 1st 2 are in the $400 range and Hamilton is $700....This is a repost of one I have in the equipment section
.
Trying to decide between the below listed lights, 75g tank with corals and anenomes. The tank is 36" tall
1st light. Orbits 1x150w 10,000k HQI Metal Halide 2x96w Dual Actinic (03 + 7100K) Lamps
342w Total Light
.
2nd light. Sunpod 2 x 150 Watt HQI System 14,000K Lamp Included
6 White and 6 Blue LED's. 300w Total light.
.
3rd light. Hamilton 2 x 175 Watt 10,000k Metal Halide Bulbs
2 - 96 Watt Actinic Blue Compact Fluorescent Bulbs. 542w total light. This is the most expensive of the three
Hope this helps, I'm leaning towards the Hamilton fixture, even though I like the looks of the Orbit and Sunpod the best

If your willing to set it up as reef from the getgo, then yea, listen to BanBoy.... (<grin>)
Metal Halide is the way to go if you want some of the more delicate and difficult corrals and other inverts. If you have the cash, go for the MH setup to start.
The bulbs in those do indeed usualy go for 6 months before they need changing (because the specrum of light they give out starts to degrade)
Run a (or a pair) of power compacts with it.
And then find yourself a good moonlight.
As for price range. Thats hard to say.
Id look online. Theres a good site that sells stuff for 'reef' systems (hint hint) which is a good place to get a baseline as far as price goes. But, you can always find better deals if you dig deep enough.
Heck, if your skilled enough. You can cobble together a $500 Metal Halide kit for just $150. (id probably burn my fingers with the soldering iron trying it LOL)
Good luck though.
