What do you want to keep in this tank?
That is what you need to look into....if you want corals that require high lighting, that light will not be enough.

i thought it was 3w per gallon ? 84w ...this is 130w ... i can't go to MH... to much on electric (my bill for electric is over 500 per/m)and my opening on top is only28 inches 30 but inch of frame on each side... leaves me only with 24" bulbs the most i have seen is 4 t5's in a 24 which is only 96w... which is why i thought PC bulbs at 65 each *2 would be my best bet... i also can not do hanging fixtures.

It's not the wattage...it's the PAR (intensity)....You would be better off with the T5HO lights...with them you can keep anything....I have T5HO's on my 29G

who told u mh cost too much in electricity. ur 130w powercompact will cost almost as much as a 150w mh. u go by wattage when calculating electric $$.

75w mh is weak over a 28. 150w is perfect imo. 4 bulbs t5 would work too. if u wanna do it right the 1st time, spend the extra money now and save $$ down the road. 150w mh fixture costs about $250-300.

look at the coral chart on this site. if you want corals that require low to medium light this light will be fine. if you want those that require high light then they wont do. you can keep alot of zoo's, shrooms, xenia's, etc. with this light but not everything.

I know alot of people say it is not about Wattage to keep certain corals, but the more wattage it seems the better they survive. How do LED's fit into the success of Corals? I see advertised that LED's are being used as Plant Grow lights and they use way less Wattage, and they do not heat up the tank as much as the T5's or MH. Why wouldnt I want to go to this in my new tank? Or should I?
