lighting my 10 gallon

I have been doing alot of reading on saltwater and reefs since I have decided to try my hand at it with a 10 gallon set up. problem is I cant find alot of information on scre w in light bulbs, only flourescent and metal halide. My 10gallon hood holds two scre w in bulbs, currently I have 2 25watt regular aquarium bulbs, I dont know if these would be usefull at all for growing soft corals, LR etc. I have seen some scre w in bulbs which boast they provide full spectrum lighting, and are equal to 3 25watt bulbs. I figure this would give me 150watts on my 10 gallon + full spectrum light but again no info on PAR or kelvin from my understanding, these bulbs are a bit more pricey at $15 each but of no concern if these will actually be helpfull to my first venture into a reef aquarium (by reef I mean, my goal is to grow corals) changing my hood is not really an option at this point so I am looking more for info on incandescents or scre w in full spectrums. thank you very much for your time

Try G.E. or one of the other big light co.
Don't think that because you have x watts per/ gal you can keep corals you need the right light type that can penetrate the water you should think more like how many inches of water is over the coral.

The bulbs I am talking about at coralife 20watt power compacts. They have a standard

in base to fit into outlets for standard incandescent bulbs but instead are fluorescent 50/50 with white 10,000k and actinic blue. They clain to be good for marine and corals./ I am going to use 2 in the hood of my 10gallon which is 12inches deep. anyone know anything about these bulbs or have any opinions on them?>?>

For a ten gallon with coral you should shoot for one of the powercompact fixtures with 80 or 96 watts by current or coralife or go higher with metal halides 70 to 150 watts. I had the 96 watt powerquad over mine and still wanted more light, your current bulbs aren't very powerful and may heat up the tank quite a bit.

im using a retrofit kit with the two bulbs you are referring to. I have two of the 50/50 bulbs on my refugium and I have had fine growth. I think you would be just fine to grow some softies and zoas. Good luck. Put up some pictures.

I know exactly what bulbs you are talking about. I put them in the hood of a ten gal QT I had. I put a bunch of zoas frags in there and they were ok. since changing the hood is not an option right now give it a shot with some inexpensive zoas and button polyps. place them higher in the tank. add a small clown and you could be on your way.
