ok well i screwed the mh reflector to the canopy. and ur goin to have to cut the reflector to fit into the canopy. (tin snips). then u are goin to have to fit the pc one on each side on each end. so it looks like this.the long ones are the pc and the short is pc. its goin to be close but dont worry mine are about 12in apart.

250w for i think $100-110. and the 2x65 $30. but if its jebo u are goin to have to buy new bulbs. 2 new actinic is $35. then the wood. if ur school makes it its free. but mine was about $50 thats for a 50in. u only need 38in. so u are looking at about $220. its do able. just a little know-how.

All right. My official dimensions of my tank are about 36x15x14.5" if that matters. Does anyone have any pictures of a similar MH/PC hood?
I found a 250w 10K bulb, ballast, and 18" chrome reflector for $90. Everything is already separated, so it should be easy to set up. Is this good?
Sorry to revert, but I was just thinking about this...up to how many gallons will this lighting setup be appropriate in case I ever switched tanks, which will not be anywhere near soon? Just wondering.
As far as the PC's, I can only seem to find either the expensive fixtures or the cheap bulbs by themselves...nothing in between...what the heck do you connect these guys to anyway?
And...the acrylic is strong enough to support the canopy right, b/c it could easily sit on top of mine if that's ok.

yeap thats the right mh. as far as u useing this light on another tank, u could any size. well bigger than urs. just dont hook it up to a 10gal. lol. u just need to buy another mh. u mite have to look under odyessa thats the new name for jebo. for the power compacts. connect what to??? the pc bulbs? they have there own end caps. and the fixture comes with clips to connect it to the canopy. mine is 48'in and my sister just washed her camera in the washing mahine. lol so i dont have a camera anymore. yea the acrylic is strong enough to hold the canopy. is ur tank acrylic? if u could find a retro kit for the pc it will make things easier. u could just use a 96w pc. thats 36'in. so look for either one, which ever is cheaper. 2x65w or 96w pc. u could use t-5, odyessa make a new t-5. look at that to. what ever is cheaper!

Awesome. I found some good deals. Just to clarify - both PC's actinic or one and one? Thanks for all the help.

Perhaps I'm just confused on the pricing then. As I don't have a ballast, reflector, or bulbs for the PC/actinics, it's going to be another $100 or so, right?

I found a 400W 20K MH for the same price, would this be too much? just checking b/c seems like a good deal

Also, how much should I expect to spend on the retrofit PC's (2x65), I need the ballast, bulbs, and reflector?

I need to know by tonight if I should go with the 250W or 400W Metal Halide for my 15" 40 gallon tank. Also, how much should I expect to pay for 2x65W PC's retrofitted (ballast, bulbs, and reflector) and where a good place to find these is? Thanks.

Sorry to hear about the computer...I'm guessing your house was struck by lightning right? Your actual computer wasn't struck by lighting right b/c that would be so weird that it would almost be funny...sorry, anyway...I did get the 250W and am still looking around for the best deal on PC's. Thanks for all your help. I'll probably be back again with my list of brain busters when I start trying put this thing together. Thanks again.
