Lighting Question PLEASE HELP!!!

I am helping someone set up a 55 gallon reef and i was wondering if he could use this?
48" power compact hood lunar 4X65 watt?
would really apperciate any answers asap :help:

sure depending on what type of coral he is planning to have? a more powerful light would be needed for corals are greater depth in the tank and stronger lighting would be needed for more sensitive types of corals. for something basic im sure that will be ok

could it be possible to go the cheap rout with a DIY hallogen kit form lowes home and garden? ive thought about it. when i convert to my larger fwt to salt im gonna go for it. as long as there is a cooling fan (radio shack computer fan) and proper instalation i think it might do the job just fine and for much less than these aquarium lights. any body tried this before? if so how did it go???? :cheer:
