Lighting Question

I've got a 260 watt in my uniquarium and a moon light..what's the ideal length of time for these lights...12 hours a day for white and actinic ad 2 hors each night for moon light?

everybody i have talked to and stuff i have read has said that you do twelve hours main lights and twelve hours moon lights
