Lighting question

So my question is about the ambient temperature and its effect of the brightness in lighting. I added a Coralife 96 watt quad bulb to my nano cube hood but I havent been running it for fear of of heating. So I'm curious if the effect is on the water or on the actual bulbs? Cause I realize that my water temp rose about 2 degrees the one day I did run it. Just curious thanks for all your help

As long as your tank water does not exceed 86 degrees and does not fluctuate more than 2 degrees F a day then you are fine. Of course this is a generalization and doesn't take into account species that require cooler waters.

I was asking if the effects of the heat is bad for the bulbs themselves.... Or is it just water temp I have to watch? I assume that its the water temp that is in need of the most attention. I appreciate both of your responses. :)

I don't think heat would hurt the bulbs themselves. I could be wrong though.

Oh ok, the temp shouldn't hurt the bulbs unless there is absolutely no air movement, it is the water temp to be worried about.
