hi,
i was wondering if i could use one metal halide pendant on my 75 on one side of the tank and T5s on the other? could you guys post pics of your tanks that dont have the full amount of metal halide pendants on their tank? like if you have 2 sections on your tank, you only have one pendant?
thanks

you should just go T5 across the top. the 8 x 54 watt tek fixture would work great.

I have a 55g. On one side I have a 24" 150w Sunpod MH and across the whole tank I have 4 - 48" T5's. 2 bulbs are actinics and the other 2 are 10,000 daylight. I can't afford another Sunpod at the moment and I had those T5's around.
I have 2 anemones and I placed them under the MH, but both of them seemed to prefer to be under the T5's since they wandered around the tank for a while until they decided to stay in one spot and they've been there for quite a while now. Under the T5 I have a GSP some zoas and mushrooms and they seems to be doing well enough.
This is an old pic, bout 2 months ago I think. Hope that helps

yea it looks funny if the light on one side of the tank is different than the other side of the tank.

Yeah, you can tell a difference with the shimmering of the MH and nothing on the other side. I'm still saving up money for the MH on the other side and being on a very VERY tight budget doesn't help at all

ill just save up for 2 thanks

Instead of buying 2 just get one whole MH that goes across, that's what I'm trying to do, get rid of my current small MH and get a bigger one

Why?
1) you already have, why not use it. It's gonna be a waste of the one you have now
2)it'll be cheaper to buy 1 more small one than 1 more big one
3) I think it's better to have 2. I think it's more evenly distributed. When I was looking to get MH's, I was advised to get 2 small ones instead of 1 large.

The 24" sunpod that I bought was around $250 and the 48" is $350. At the time I had a biocube so I only needed a small one. If if find something other than a sunpod MH cheaper, then I might get a second small one instead

Coralreefer I would go with either all t5's or just get a couple of nice MH pendants....Throw some Phoenix 14k's in there and you will be set.

So I'm assuming the 48" is at least 2 bulbs right? If so than okay.
I thought you were planning on buying 1 stronger MH bulb and placing it in the middle of the tank rather than having 2 smaller bulbs on both ends of the tank.

Oh no, it does have 2 bulbs, one MH on each side and 9 blue & 9 white lunar lights.
