I just got a 125 gal tank. I would like it to be a reef tank with all types of corals. I just dont remember how many watts lightbulbs per gal of water am I supposed to get for that tank. Advise would be appreciated.

Watts/gallon should not be your determining factor when choosing lights.
For a standard 125gal either 3x 175w metal halides or 12-14x 39w T5 (Aquactinics Constellation, or Nova Pro) would work well. With either choice you'd be able to keep whatever you wanted. Personally, I'd go T5.

175- 250 watt Mh lights would work.
Is the top of tank a two section or three section.
A single 72 fixture can cause shadows.

You are going to need 3 MH for that tank. I have 2 150 mh on my 5 foot tank and wish I had another MH. because the sides dont get enough lights.
