as im building my custom canopy for my new reef...I am putting in 2-96 w actinic. 2-96 watt daylight power compacts. 4 moonlights. 4 cooling fans. the canopy will be 10 inches high. my question is, will 1 - 250 mh bulb be enough if i only plan to keep a couple clams?
1 MH bulb will look odd on that big of a tank, IMO. I would even it out if you could. 2 bulbs four a 4' tank; 3 for a 6' tank. By all means you could put 1 bulb, but the sides will be darker than the center.
