I have seen alot of Pics on this site that has like a blue light.
Is that lighting for at night and should you have to sets of lights one for day time and one for night?
I have a FO tank and I put my light on for about 5 hours a day,
to keep the algae down. But I was thinking of upgrading my lighting and I was wondering should I get one that has a day and night switches if there is such a thing and what is the purpose if any for the blue light? I really like the way it looks in the pictures.....
Thanks,

The blue light is for corals, or you can have it if you like the look of it.
There's no need to keep a light on during the night.

The blue light is called atinic. For the most part people supplement their day bulbs withit. Useing it as a way to acclimate the aquarium to the brightness of the full day bulbs and acclimate them to night time. By running them an hour or so before and after the main lights are off. A cool thing about atinic lights is particularly with some corals, they will actually GLOW while under them in neon colors!
Their are also sort of blue "moon lights" you could have for night, which simulate the natural light of the moon... kind of cool, but not needed.
How much of a trouble are you having with algae?

Not Much algae since I cut down on the light time and using R/O water for tap offs. Thanks for the Lighting 101 I will now have to figure out how much money I want to spend on lighting for my tank.
