I have a ice cap 660 running 4 110's 2 actinic/aqua sun.....i run them all day and slowly dim them at night........Does everyone normally turn their lights off at night....Do i need moon lights ? Is this ok ?

Yup, turn your lights off at night.
Not sure what you mean by moonlights.

I wouldnt worry about the moon lights. I believe that they are mainly for certain types of soft corals.

Not at all, I've read that that moonlights can help corals grow at night but most corals retract at night and collect plankton in the water because the lights are off so they can't rely on photosynthesis. But they aren't for certain corals. I love to watch fish and inverts at night with the moonlights, I enjoy watching them at night with the moonlights just as much as during the day with the main lights on.

I have heard it's better to use red led's because the fish and such cannot 'see' red and that because the blue is 'just for looks'...Is this true ?

this is true to some extent. However natural moonlight is not red. effect of moonlighting is debateable for corals but it's proven to encourage spawning in fish.
oh and def turn your lights off at night, most organisms need a dark period of at least 8hrs. You do not "need" a moonlight but they are cool for observing nightime activity.
