WEll another question on lighting. I am setting up a 30 gallon and I want to put clowns and aneneomes I hope that is how you spell it. With some corals. Probably the easiest corals that I can find. What kind of lighting could I use? Do I need to spend all that money for a 30 gallon? Could I have a pretty cool aquarium with 20,000K florecent lighting?

Anemones generally wont live without very strong lighting. They may live for awhile without metal hallides, but they will have much shorter lifespans. Be prepared to spend around $200-$250 on a MH for a 30 gallon tank.

I believe it also matters what type of anemone. For example, I dont believe condi's need as much light as a bubble tip. I should know..mine ate it. I just added my new lighting in today
CORALIFE 48" LUNAR AQUALIGHT AQUARIUM LIGHT
Two 65 watt 10,000K and two 65 watt True Actinic 03 Blue straight pin base compact fluorescent lamps
Four 3/4 watt Lunar Blue-Moon-Glow LED lamps
Three on/off switches with three 8-foot power cords for separate timers
Built-in ballasts
Two cooling fans
Sleek aluminum housing
Highly-polished reflector
Acrylic lens cover
Our state-of-the-art Lunar Aqualight compact fluorescent light fixtures incorporate the Lunar Blue-Moon-Glow LED 470nm light which creates rhythmic glitter and shimmering effects while promoting spawning cycles in corals and reef life. Backed by the proven quality of the Aqualight product line, these superb lighting fixtures allow you to Capture the Sun and now...the Moon

They were bound to fight because they are of different species.
pondy, what kind of price range are you looking at for lighting? If you aren't prepared to spend $250+, then it would be better to just not get an anemone for now. You should wait 6+ months after the cycle to put in an anemone anyways, they need very stable water parameters. Clowns often use corals as a substitute host, such as hairy mushrooms, frogspawns, and xenia colonies.

No way around the lighting issue if you want a home for your clowns... There are a great deal of PC's that could easily meet your needs. I have used coralife and current and been happy with both. Try looking on the classified threads for something used if you are working on a buget. Good Luck.:D

Thanks for responding to all my questions. I would like to get started on my aquarium and right now I wasnt planning on putting any corals or anemones in the tank until it was well enouh established. So I guess that gives me at least 6 months to save some money. But what kind of corals can I put in after my aquarium cycles? That what kind of lights would you all prefer right now during set up? and after when I want to put clams and anemonies in it?
Thanks
Pondy
