How far high is the light from the tank? My light is about one foot high from the tank. Is that high enough?
Thanks

I forgot to add that I have a current USA 48" HQI metal Halide light. I don't know if it's too powerful to be closer to the tank? Let me know.
Thanks.

About a foot seems to be standard for halides. I've got a LOT of VHO wattage on my tank and have them about a foot off the water. When I upgrade to the new 70 from my 29 I plan on putting them closer so my zoas get some extra light boost. OR I might leave them that high and add a MH retro kit for more light! :D

It shouldnt be I have heard 8 inches min from the water. You dont want water to get on the bulbs.

As long as there not in the water itself where ever. Might be a good idea to put them on a stand though so you can run open top and they will be close to the tank still.
