i need some lights for my 75 gallon what is the best to get and the cheapest in the long run i want it for reef

the best and cheapest imo is t-5s, mid range front end cost, but bulbs last 18-24 months and its half the wattage as mh but the closest u can get.
for a 75g a 6x54w tek hood is more than enough

not to hijack this thread but is 54x6 enough for coral? or should i step up to the 54x8? oh and its also a 75g tank

if u go with 8x54w ur corals will probably melt seriously, that is way to muck light

Fanker, would 8-80w of t5's 72" be ok for my 125 gallon? (Don't mean to hijack your thread tanks alot.)

well as i said in the other thread 72" of florecent should have not been done, it gets dull in the middle, but ive never tried it thats just what i heard. but if u want to u can idk what it will look like, but yes it is plenty, ore u can go with 2x36"6x39w

so should i get the Nova Extreme T-5 Fixture with 4 bulbs then? its less than 220w and 8 bulbs was 440w or somewhere around there. i know your not suposed to go off wattage but still. :notsure:

no the reason nova is cheaper is because they only have 1 reflector, so the fixture loses about half its light, i never recoment nova to anyone because of that, its eather, ati, tek ot aquatinics
