Is it possible to build a canopy and put a 36" 2x96 wt pc setup and one 175 wtt mh on each side? has anyone done this? if so could I see a pic of your setup? how high off the water should the lights be? thanks

its possible, i pretty much have the same set up on my 125, except its bigger bulbs. The MH's should be 10 inches off the water, and the PCs should be at least 4 inches off the water. Heres a pic of my set up, you can do pretty much the same thing, it'll just be smaller

thank you! do you know if I can put the plastic housing that the power compacts come in inside the canopy? I hate to strip all of the bulbs out of it? thanks

you probley could, it would be easier, but then you cant spread the bulbs out like i did in my canopy, so you'd have to have like the PCs in the front and the MH's in the back and it might make the color a little funny, but it will probley be fine

Pic #1 is the whole canopy, there are vents in the top so the pc combo can breathe
Pic #2 Shows a closer view of the vents
Pic #3 Shows the 120 MM fans i installed on each end for the MH, keeping the tank as cool as possible, these fans have thermisters on them, the hotter the tank the faster they go!
Pic#4 Keep in mind, the pc combo is almost as wide as the tank to you need to build the canopy a little wider to accept it, you see the leg i built for the light , you have to do the same down where the tank sits

forgot to mention my lights are 8 inches off the water, I wouls probably go 10-12 next time!
Someday i will get to do this again and put in a piano hinge so i can open it up from the top! 1st tank 1 canopy ! :thinking:
