Lighting

So I just got a Fluval LED programmable system.. So far I'm fish only and plan on getting coral in the future. How many hrs should I have it on daylight vs the moonlight. I've heard 8 hrs of normal light is good. I just turned it to moonlight (dark blue) and my sea star instantly made an appearance and hasn't submerged in a few hrs. Lol

Mine are on a total of 11 hours but only full strength for about 6. Mine ramp up to full power then back down (sunrise-sunset). They are more powerful than the fluval. 8 hours is fine for fish and probably future coral but not strong enough for some coral.

I have dimmable also. Maybe have them at 80 percent now
It was at 60 or so but I just added some sps and a 5 inch clam.
I usually run them for 10 to 12 hrs now that I don't have algae issues anymore.

As long as the tank is fish only I would just turn on the lights when I was home so I could enjoy looking at my tank. the fish don't care, and when you begin to stock corals you can worry about light timing.
