lighting ?

this may sound un-intelegent but lets say you have a 55gallon tank, so 48" long, and you have a 48" VHO 110 watt florescent bulb on it, is haveing 2x55watt pc lights the same thing?
I mean they both obviously are using 110watts, but is one actually better/more powerfull

well PC penetrate the water a little bit better but some people like the shimmer effect of VHO a little better

The 55watt lights even though they are "DOUBLED" saying 110 its still a 55 watt light ... you can have 1000 55 watt PC's and still have the same penetration as 2 55 watt because they can only reach so far before the water cuts out the good rays... 1000 lights is exagerating but makeing an example hehe.
I had a flower pot coral that was a small tree. It literally was extended 4-5 inches for each of its "flowers". It was in a 55 gallon under 220 watts of pc 4X55. When i removed it and added 2X250 watt MH & 2X110 VHO it got the light it needed and started looking normal and healthy.
