I upgraded lighting to 2-55watt actinic and 2 -55 watt 10000k bulbs. When all the lights are on for about 8 hrs. I get a green algae film on glass and rocks etc. I wanted to see what would happen with the lights off for a day .With the lights off there was no algae film, also with just the 2 actinic lights on there was no film. Whats up? I have a 55 gallon tank. 75 lbs LR. Fish , inverts, Tree coral,mushroom coral,bubble coral,anthelia. Thanks

I added my 65W PC and had a diatom bloom the next day.... I think the diatoms were inevitable, but kick-started by adding the lights.
