Thanks Mark, I have been in mine now for 2 weeks and everytime I do another water change and think it is gone, it comes back within 24 hours. I have tried everything. Lighting at 2 to 3 hours, phospads and a algae control from API. I am starting to get very frustrated because the lighting is awsome and corals, fish and liverock look awsome. Thanks for the input.

I have chaeto with lights on it 24-7 it eats nutriants fast and starves the other algae out to an extent

That's an awesome upgrade! Are you adjusting your lighting schedule at all? That's a big change, and they're not used to that much light. You'll want to make it slowly so they don't burn. Some people have used several layers of screen and then removed one every day or so. When I went from PC to MH, I just cut way back on lighting and increased it a little bit every day until I got back to where I was. Just keep an eye on your corals and enjoy!

I took out the bio-balls and am going to see if I can do something like that. I am in Calif. and most LFS do not carry it around here. Also the top of my sump where the return is colored with black plexi glass so I would have to mod or clip a light to the side. What do you think?

New Lights are awsome!!!
I love the look of the MH's. The moon lights are very cool too , my corals are glowing a radioactive green.
I'm running my lights about a foot above the water and for only 4 hrs a day and plan on slowly adding about a hr a week.
I also have a sump/fuge w/ 24/7 lighting on the chaeto. So hopefully no more algea from this upgrade.

Yukon, I hope you take it slow because the algae bloom is no fun. It has really frustrated me, but I am pretty anal about having a clean tank. I told you the MH lighting is awsome and now you can see why. I hope you can find some mod legs or a hanging kit. I didn't want to hang mine so I was lucky my tank is 48" and the legs work great. Good luck.

I hear ya ! I've been battling mine now for a couple months. I was busy working on my house for about 8months and After letting my lights expire, RoDi filters get old, letting filters get old, moving it 2 times, and just plane neglecting it I had quite the mess. I had major hair algea and Cyano. I've done a ton of work to the tank in the last 3 or 4 months and added the sump refuge, added to the cuc, new bulbs on old PC, new rodi filter, cleaned rocks with toothbrush, added chaeto ect, ect, ect....
It's been a pain I've pretty much got it under control now, I have a LB in QT just waiting to finish off the rest

I use to have a sea hare and he was great! kept the tank nice and clean, I lost him about a year ago in the summer when my tank got really hot. I'll probably add another one at some point. Hopefully I can keep it under control now, all the changes I've made have really helped.
I ordered the suspension kit last night for the new light since it's just sitting on 2x4's I have stacked up on the sides of my tank

I went to my LFS complaining that I still can't get rid of the algae bloom from the new lights. Almost a month I have been fighting it from all directions. I had him test every concievable thing that could be in my water quality and found out my magnesium level was extremely low. In the 1100's. He told me to dose more mag until I get it between 14 and 15 hundred. He thinks that is why I have the algae problem and that the higher mag level will rid me of the algae. Anyway if your having the same problem or if you get it check your mag levels. Glad you found mounts for your lights. Good luck.

couple pics with new lights first pic you can still see the remnant's of my hair algae. I left some on there to feed the lawnmower blenny in the QT. I'll see if he takes care of the rest if not then I'll get out the tooth brush again. Also you can kind of see my nice 2x4 light mounts

The other pics are under the moon lights. Even my chocolate mushrooms glow green under these lights
Very cool!!
