Lights on and off

I am having construction done on my house and the workers keep having to shut the lights off on the tank for an hour or two at a time. Its usually only once a day, and not everyday. At what point would I be pushing it? Should I leave the lights on later to make up for missed daylight, or just pretend it didn't happen.

footbag,
What kind of corals do you keep? What kind of lighting do you have? How long are the lights on during this construction? How long will it be until you can resume normal light times?

IT would have been in my signiture but... I have a 90g w/ 2X175w MH and 2X48" NO actinics. As far as corals I have a little bit of everything, but the ones I am most worried about would be the Xenia (because it may self destruct) and a group of sps frags. The lights will probably go off tommorow for the last time. My lights are on 12/12.

I have a zenia that's growing like crazy and I run my MH less than 8 hours a day regularly. I don't have any SPS but can tell you that most people I've observed here have 7 to 10 hour per day photo period. I don't think you need to worry about your corals being effected by the temporarily shorter photo period, since your lights are still on around 10 hours per day.

short term spurts is fine I have left my lights off for a whole day before (before I got timers LOL) but didnt have any ill effects, when you got to start worrying is when its long term lights out.
are all your pumps still running when the lights are out that would something to worry about if they arent staying on rather than lights. IMO

I bel;ieve it ideal to "try" to maintain a normal day/night lighting pattern. But even on a natural reef things get messed up by mother nature. Your system may just think severe weather is passing thru. I wouldn't worry much especially since the altered lighting pattern is short term. things should be fine. But if they all die maybe a law suit can replace them all....just joking there...I don't seriously think legal action would be warrented!

In regard to the loss of sigs...I'd suggest making a file like the one above. I just copy and paste as needed. If additional info is needed then it can be added. The issue with sigs was excessive length on every post and links to sites that were in violation of rules. But with a little creativity sigs can still be used.Mine is still the way it was.I just need to copy/paste whenever I want to post it.
