I am about to start my first tank. When I kick off the cycle of the tank with live rock and live sand should I be using my lighting (36" Current USA satalite)? Should I have them off until cycle is finished? I have done research and have gotten mixed awnsers.
Thanks from a newb

Nope. IMO that don't need to be on... its just a mater of do you want to look at a dark tank for 6 weeks???

Hey Baylisc,
I kept my lights off during the cycle because I didn't want to encourage a lot of algae growth. Not really sure if it would matter anyway.
PS - Off topic. But if you don't mind answering, how do you like the USA light? I'm thinking about getting their 24" PC orbit light. I assume you have to hang the satellite one?

Hiya G8er_h8er, thanks for the help!
The Satellite hasnt arived yet so i cant give you a direct awnser about how they are. The company I bought it from included free docking mounts (satellite mounting leg kit). If you do a search for "satellite mounting leg kit" you can find out where I got it :) good luck and thanks again for the help
