Yeah that sucks. With 4.4 million people without power down there, someone here is bound to be one of them. Isn't SWF.com located somewhere in south florida?

There's spotty outages along the whole east coast from Daytona Beach to Miami. Power here at work in Orlando (darn
) but the house 20 miles east is out. Hopefully it kicks back on soon. The scary part is FPL isn't saying the cause.

Quote from FPL:
A Florida Power & Light spokesman says the widespread power outages started when the company shut down a nuclear reactor south of Miami for safety reasons, but did not explain further
It's getting scarier....

Yours looks weather related.
No, OUC, Tampa Electric, and Progress Energy get some of the energy from FPL. They are not able to supply all their customers based on the power they generate so they have cut power to some customers. How that's determined, is beyond me. Or it's cheaper to buy power from FPL then to run their equipment at a higher percent. Either way looks like by 5:30 most of the power should be restored.
Yea that storm is coming quick. Time to head home.

Yea, we had very severe T-storms here earlier(about 30 mins. N of Jax, FL) and tornadoes reported in the area. Happened the same time schools were getting out...not good. I went with my friend to pick up her kids, they were slightly traumatized because the whole school had to do a "tornado drill" only it wasn't a drill. Somehow we never lost power though.
