The 10 gal QT's filter ( the pump really ) went kaput. I need a new one. However, I want a better than average filter as I have a feeling this is the tank that will be used for the next project in the house. Just need lights for it. But for now, I need a filter for it. I want something that is good, has room for a bag of carbon, and is quiet. Suggestions?

I like aqua clear or aqueon. They run pretty quiet as long as the water level does not get too low.

WELL It does not have to be the Tetra model....many different companies make basically the same thing.....I just posted that for a reference

my daughter's tank has the wisper 10 and the suction cups sux. That 20 looks like what i have now so no thanks.
Aqua clear or Aqueon? I think the LFS sells those, not sure. Is either one more likely/easier to be made into a HOB fuge for future planning when this tank is no longer a QT?

Probably the Aqua Clear....
OR a PEnguin....they are cheap too...an IMO they work...I have a double one on my 29G...no wheel though

well, the wife just told me that the pump is now working on the qt. I dont want to leave this up to chance so I might just get a new filter anyways. I dont think i have seen a penguin filter at any of the LFS around me. I do think i have seen the aqueon and aqua clears though. Anyone have a preference for either of those? Someone have a suggestion for a different kind?

An Aqueon filter came with my 55G (the FW tank I had to replace when the cat broke the center brace LOL) anyway....I HATED IT.....It was very noisy, so it sits in a box under teh cabinet and I am using my old Topfin on it....same as penguins....never had an issue
I use the Whisper 30-60 on my 29GSW.....works great and is quiet too....

LOL..I tried 3 tetra's on my tank and they were horrific. One was extremely noisy, one leaked, and the other had minimal flow and I could not fix that. I use the 30 gallon aqueon, so the size might be why I had better luck.
