Lime Green Algae

I have had my 12 gallon tank running for about 5 months now, and within the last few weeks (since we hooked-up a 65watt coralife light) lime green algae has been appearing on the rocks. Is this algae alright, or will it kill my fish?
PS- I found this board about a week ago and have spent at least 5 hours on it so far! You guy's are the best resouce ever!

Can you post a picture? My guess would be corraline algae (which is good).

Is the algae smooth or does it look like shag carpet? Maybe in a bubble shape?

The algae is smooth and in little spots along the rocks

Does it form in round or almost round spots? If so it does sound like good algae- coralline.

All along the back wall. Does it look like that?

my experience is that the brighter green it is the less time it will actually stay in the tank... my critters go after the bright green stuff no problem.. the darker it is the more likely it will not be consumed right away. So Id bet that it will eventually be a good food source and wont be around long... but of course if it is coralline that is a different story.. but that is good stuff too...

When you scratch the green stuff is it hard (coraline) or slimmy (bad algea)?
