Where can limestone be bought online? like, chunks of it. similar to live rock size.
Has anyone here used it? What has your experience been with it?

nevermind...i found some locally.
I pretty much have figured out that you can use it but its better to have more live rock or porous rock.
So, can anyone answer this next question for me? What do I need to do to the limestone before putting it into my display tank?

limestone is CaCO3...safe to use. i assume you mean tufa rock. i have some tufa in my tank. if so, i would just give it a good rinse with fw. i will be dusty otherwise.

i have a few cut solid pieces of limestone for our local pond place.
i would love to find tufa rock that is located anywhere except *****....i realize its cheaper than live rock (which i do have some already) but i'm pretty cheap...and the cut pieces i got today were 5 cents per pound...and i actually got them for free because i didnt get much.
A marine magazine mentioned using limestone to cut costs (and being more sea-friendly) than using more live rock.

I have a 30lb piece in my 60 gallon. After mixing in some nice live rock pieces and some corals, a few months later you can't even tell it's limestone. It's heavy and pretty dense, but it's got tons of caves. Every inch is covered in something live.
While we're on the subject, Home Depot used to sell (don't think they do anymore) Pavestone brand crushed limestone. $5 for 50lbs... heck of a bargain considering 20lbs of "live sand" costs ~$20. Used 4 bags on my 140 gallon tank and it is awesome. Makes a cloudy mess of the water for a few days, but if you're cycling your tank, it doesn't really matter.
