Got any tank pics would like to check it out? If you must go with a trig and a lion I'd go with a sargassam, crosshatch, or a male/female blue-throat. A few of the most docile triggerfish.

I got a lion and a clown trigger and black trigger in the same tank for about 6 months now and no problems. They don't bother each other. I have a 40gl. tank.

from my experience, triggers and lions dont mix at all.. only trigger that might work with a lion is a humahuma... a trigger will nip and nip the heck out of a lion till he finnaly get the the fleshy part, then nip on that too..

I've had a fuzzy and a antenneta lion in with my niger for years now. No problems. I've also heard stories of the same combination with the lion getting shredded. Luck of the draw IMO.

Yep, it is not a good combination to mix lions and triggers. If you really have to do it, do it with a niger, crosshatch, or blue throat. You will hear stories of some people being successful with other triggers. As with everything, there is always some exceptions. Most times it does not work out though.

My blue throat and humu humu tore my Volitans apart! I had to kill the lion because of what they did to him! The blue throat was the one that started it too!

Lol...more like a 240, as CT's and Durgeons get huge, not to mention the Volitan if it survives will go 15"+.

I had a volitan and a rectangular trigger and niger trigger all in the same 130g. Never had a problem with them fighting, but maybe I was just lucky.

I was my Niger was as peacful as everbody claims them to be. He's a complete jerk, and would peel a Lionfish like a bannana if I were to put one in my tank. I have my formoson back in my QT after months of peace the Niger had almost killed him, biting his tail fin off and he can no longer swim properly. The tail will re-grow and he'll not be going back in this tank.

I have a huma trigger, a pink tail trigger, a volitan lion and a porc puffer all living together in a 220 along with 7 assorted tangs and everyone gets along great. Now, that is a 220 and size does matter.

I guess I'm one of the exceptions. I have a 6" plus clown trigger with my volitan no problems. Of course that is in a 240 gallon tank.
I had a niger with a dwarf lion in a 135 back in college with no problems as well. However, when I moved to Dallas before I got the big tank back up, they were in a 30 gallon together and he shreaded the lion after almost a year living together. I have had several combo's of lions and triggers, including Humas, Nigers, Clowns and Blue lines with no problems in larger tanks. So I agree that size does matter!

Please don't put too much stock in posts and claims of this sort...

I also have a PV Lion and Trigger (along with Puffer, Maroon and a couple Tangs) in a 210...
Size does matter..

Anyone keeping numerous Triggers and Volitan Lion, in a 40gal. tank (no matter the size of the fish) should be ashamed of themselves...that's rediculous.
I've kept Queen Triggers, Clown Triggers, Black Hawaiian Durgeons, and Blue Throat Triggers with the Volitan I used to have. Keep in mind that none of them were with the Lion for very long...and, the Volitan was 15" long and could have easily killed each Trigger, as they were all almost small enough to be eaten by the Lion, if he really wanted to.
