If you mix them make sure you keep a close eye out, my niger was very peaceful at first , then I had to remove the tank bully and the peaceful niger turned into a maniac. If I would of left him in the tank he would of picked my voltan to death.

It is hit and miss !!!!!! A trigger can kill your lion yet a lion can sting & kill a trigger, it will depend on the fish.
The triggers I would trust more with a lion are the Crosshatch, Bluethroat or Sargassum more than the Nigers and Pinktails that is more risky and the humu is even a little more risky than the last two groups.
I have had my Pinktail for a few years now with 3 Volitans and a fuzzy, no problems but my Pinktail is pretty docile, I have read of a few Pinktails killing lions though. That is why I always say it is hit & miss.
My Pinktail has been stung by my Fuzzy and lived, it took days to recover to the point it could even swim slow in my tank, but my fuzzy did not want to give up his food either.
Good luck with your decision and if you do decide to go this route than keep a close eye on the fish, watch the lions fin that is usually the first sign it is being nipped.
