Lion Fish

I have a 75 gallon tank, that I was planning on making into a reef system. I am now considering doing an aggresive fish setup. If so I would like to do lionfish, should I get dwarf lions or standard. What goes well with lions. Eels, tangs, triggerfish. These are some I have considered. Any info would be appreciated as I am new to salt water. I started cycling my water withabout 75 lbs. of live rock and 50 lbs of live sand. I have 350 watts on the tank.

Wow, maybe u should do a reef, or else Ill trade lights with you, lol. I have PC's That are perfect for a 75 (on a 55, but same length). Volitan lion will not outgrow a 75. I dont even think mine will outdo my 55. Becuz A.) I will have a very tough time letting him go and B.) he doesnt swim around much anyway. Volitans are totally cool, and look nicer than dwarfs, plus volitans are really hardy. I wouldn't do a trigger with a volitan, cuz it might attack it. Volitans are mellow to anything that wont fit in its mouth btw. They really cant attack, just swallow, lol. But, if they are attacked, in defense, they can sting their attacker. Tangs do very well with lions, but if an eel tries to bite at yer lion, good bye eel and lion. Maybe a SFE, they are mellwo enough, and if the volitan is large enough, it wont attack. Like Conogre says, Aggressive fish arent territorial, and they cant eat it, they will respect it, lol. TRy to talk to him, cuz he knows his ----. Hope I helped:cheer:

Thanks a lot Chandler. Do you think that is two many watts for that kind of setup aka will it hurt the fish? What kind of tangs are good with lionfish? What do you feed them? Thanks for the help.

also what kind of cover do they need/enjoy. I have 75 lbs of liverock. Could I keep any corals or clams? What about cleaner crew will they get eaten? Sorry about all the questions.

A Volitan WILL outgrow a 75 trust me, mine is starting to look big in my 180. I would get a drawf, Volitan grow really fast and get huge. For Tangs in a 75 I would suggest a Kole or Yellow, the SFE is a good choice for that size tank and I don't think there are really any triggers that do too well in a 75 for a long period of time. Maybe a blue jaw would work.

I'd go with a dwarf species: a fuzzy lion, dwarf zebra, fu manchu, antennata, or radiata. I've kept each of those species except for one, and they do very well in a 75, they are (at least in my mind) just as rewarding as a volitan. They're also a little easier on the bioload, which is easier to maintain.
I'd look into a snowflake eel as Fin Follower said. They get about two feet long, stay skinny, and would be more than happy in a 75 with adequate LR. They're not going to be extremely aggressive to your other species either.
The good thing is that if you don't have the triggers or puffers, you can keep a good clean-up crew to help maintain tank levels.
In reference to your feeding question, are you talking about tangs or lions? Lionfish eat live food but can be weaned onto eating frozen foods, my dwarf lions eat thawed silversides, krill, seafood chunks, and such. My tangs eat Formula 2 flakes they steal from the other fish, and eat Seaweed Select in both flake and sheet form.
