Lion tank

Posted this in the photography section and didn't get any hits so I will try here. I am hoping some of you have some tank shots of your lion tanks so I could get rock work ideas for the one I am setting up. I am going to be getting a volitan or a radiata; I havent decided yet.

For and adult P. volitans, you want a tank that's at LEAST 18" wide (front-to-back) to afford proper "turnaround room"

100 gal "wide" (48' x 24" x 20"):

60 gal (outgrown by lion):

Same fish in a 6 gal cube (it was just a TINY feller):

Im glad you posted you tanks sax; I guess you don't remember but in another post I told you my tank was 48"x24"x30". I was just wanting to get ideas for the rock setup; I am thinking of going for a "gorge" look high on the sides and low in the middle. I do want to keep some other fish with him so I have to consider them as well.

A "gorge" will look really great with that 30" height. When we moved the tank, I was considering a kinda "low" gorge as a change, but I didn't want to run with less LR, and the pieces I was using in that tank fit together pretty well in that configuration (altho I did end up with an extra piece that I removed cuz I didn't like how it looked).

I really HATE having to move LR once I get it "just right"...

I just want to make sure I have enough open space for a full grown volitan's to move around and good hiding spots for his tankmates.

Our skimmer (Eshopps S-150 Cone) sits in the sump, and there's just a basic "under" bubble trap baffle. Is your skimmer a HOB?

antwon - I have a Coral Life 125 - it used to produce a large amount of microbubles, I built a HOB tank with baffles and a small fuge to get rid of the micro bubbles, it works pretty good as long as you keep up to the make up water in the DT and I find, strangly enough if the calcium is low in the tank I get more micro bubbles, believe it or not. Here is a picture of the contraption I built.

oh then no its in the sump actually i figured out the reason: by skimmer creates a film on top of the water, and the outake from the sump blows the film and the bubbles into the water, so, i have to set my PH so that it runs across the surface so i dont get a film at all but thanx for the imput(i will try to get a bubble catcher)
