Hello...
I have a P. volitan and it started acting weird for the last couple days, i notice that the skin looked like if it was peeling (and i don't mean just the membrane they usually release) also the eyes where cloudy,
I went to my regular fish store and they recommended a 25% water change and dip the lion in fresh purified water for 3 minutes also bought lifeguard from instant ocean the guy told me to use it for 5 days on my tank I separate all my snails and crabs.
Please help me I wanna make sure i'm doing the right thing, my lion is swimming almost normally now but still not eating and the eyes are still cloudy and it has been on the treatment for 1 day.
Thanks a lot for your time and help.
-.Raul

Your lion is getting ready to molt.
They dart around, sometimes hang is areas of higher flow and yawn alot when they are getting ready to shed their layer of skin called a cuticle.
I have video and some pictures but I also just had a huge virus and lost everything on the puter. Thank goodness for Mozy backups.... it's just gonna take me a minute to find it.

That could be ich. One of their pain defenses against parasites is to shed the cuticle to get rid of the parasites. A full grown lion only sheds about once a month, but if they have a parasite onboard, they will shed more often.

If you can put together some good pics of the the lion molt, maybe that would be a good addition for the Diseased Fish Thread?

If you have examples of the cloudy eye thing? This is something that commonly comes up in the Disease Forum.

Wow, that is a nice pic. I was hoping to get the cloudy eye. Since people come here thinking its a disease, when it is really a natural process.
