kinda barbaric but... s.p.e.a.r. a piece of silverside AND a ghost shrimp on the CLEAR feeding stick together. He will see the ghost shrimp, go for it, and also get the silverside. At least that way he is getting better nutrition. Keep doing this until he gets more comfortable with the feeding stick (even the clear ones freak them out at first) and then just put the frozen silverside or whatever fresh meat on the stick.. no ghost shrimp and wiggle it. Itll work it just takes patience. Until then, just trick him by putting both on the stick.
How long has it been since he ate? only feed a large lion a few times a week. They will get liver disease, impaction (as mentioned earlier) and suffer vision loss from malnutrition (you can tell by looking at thier eyes if they are real cloudy its not good).
Once he gets used to the 'stick' feeding I would mix it up. go to walmart, to the seafood counter- buy scallops, calamari, mahi, shrimp and whatever else you can get your hands on (small quantities... of course, and its CHEAP) mix up his diet and he will bounce back.
Dont loose hope, if he survived so far on FW feeders Im sure you can fix it.
Good Luck! I had a fuzzy dwarf lion (pain in the butt to train to feed) and he was awesome! Ate like a beast with the feeding stick until the day I downsized my tank and sold him
