Lionfish with broken fins

I went to the fish store today and they were selling a red volitan lionfish that had about 3 broken spine/fins on his right side. He wasn't his usual color so I believe he is stressed. Will the fins grow normal again? He doesn't swim as well as he should but he isn't laying on the rocks either. They had him for a week and they say he has been eating but I don't know if that is true. He fell out of a tank. He is about 4-5 inches and they want $10.00 for him. Should I get him?

I would have but I just missed feeding time. They just fed him and 2 black lions some goldfish. When I went to look at him there were 2 goldfish that hadn't been eaten yet , so I don't know if he ate or not.

I have a vol. lionfish that I bought awhile back that had one short fin. It will eventually grow back, but it takes awhile (my lions fins grew about 2 inches in about 2 months)
Just make sure that you feed nutrient enriched foods (silversides soaked in zoecon, zoe etc) and not goldfish. But you may have problems at first because lions tend to not readily eat frozen foods. But you may get lucky as I did with mine, it ate silversides as soon as I got it in my tank. Also dont have any fin nipping fish along with your volitans, like puffers.
About the fish being dropped?!? It could of caused internal damage. But for that price, it doesnt hurt to take a gamble especially considering its size.
The colors vary often times. When theyre pissed they turn really dark with their tips being a bright white color to deter other fishes away. They also swim in all sorts of positions (inverted, sideways...)
*also your damsels, and clown are in danger of being eaten. Being 4-5" lion, it has a BIG mouth! Mine is about 7", and the sucker ate my 2-3" clown tang!! gosh what an expensive meal!! But the wierd part of it is that he doesnt touch my two cleaner shrimps!!

I traded my damsels in and got a 3 inch Naso. Will he fit in his mouth? I wouldn't think so considering he is only about an inch bigger and there is no room for him in his belly.

Shouldn't be a problem. But, check at night though when the lights are out. This is the time when lions hunt for food. Fishes are vulnerable when the lights are out because they usually stay in one area.
