Lionfish

I think I am ready to take care of my lionfish, just wanted to see if anyone out there knew of any good advice?

make sure you have large enough tank for him b/c they are messy eaters adn need adequate space and filtration both(whichever species you choose), always check your tank mates for compatibilty, they will eat anyting they can fit into their mouth(literally anything)
and NEVER EVER fed them feeders, ween them immediately to fish food adn keep them there, do not feed them freshwater feeders, although cool to watch fw fish is very bad for them and DOES normally cause health problems

Where can you buy the fish food to feed them, is it a dry food? I have a dwarf lionfish in a 50 gal. tank, what type but need to get a better filtration system. I have assorated anemones and a few damsels.

So what makes a good feeding stick? What happens if you do feed them, what sorts of illness, and how can it be treated? I fed my lionfish a goldfish when I got him a few days ago, think it will do any harm?

Goldfish can introduce pathogens into your tank that your fish aren't "familiar" with. Also, feeding too many goldfish will lead to fatty buildup on the liver, and lead to premature death. All reputable lfs' carry feeder sticks, most are made of arcylic. Bo

Make your life easy. Lionfish are very common, so just make sure you only buy one that is already eating prepared foods. As stated by others, never ever ever give him a feeder fish. This will spoil him and he will not want to eat anything but live.
Oh when cleaning make darn sure you know where the lion is at ALL times. The one I used to have before I moved would move into attack position while cleaning and if I got too close I would have paid for it.
