probably not..........lions are highly color-variable..even if you're talking about the identical species.....for instance..I've seen fuzzy dwarf lions with many different colors.....(red, dark brown, brownish/yellowish/reddish and even yellow morph)...but they're all the same species....

sounds to me like maybe you just saw a different coloration of the lion, or that there may have been an issue w/ the digital photograph or yes maybe even some photographic manipulation.
W/ that said, lionfish can be quite varible in coloration (the dwarf fuzzies are a great example), so a hint of red here, or brown there, shouldn't be a problem. Kinda weird actually i can't say i've ever seen a dwarf lion (D Zebra) w/ hints of red.....but it is possible

:happyfish Lionfish come in all shades in their own subspecies. I have a volitan lion that is really deep red color, and some are more brown, and some are really pale color. Your one lion that you think is pale due to lack of filtration is probably just stressed or maybe that is the color of him. I've ordered from them, and they do what is standard in the industry. Good luck

:happyfish They offer a live guarantee for I think 10 days, how long did you have him? I had a fish die from an order from them and they didn't even need the body, or water or anything. Give em a call see if you can get your money back on the fish. You won't be able to get shipping and handling, but you'll get the cost of the lion at least. Good luck, and sorry to hear about your lion, that sometimes happens with ordering online.

:happyfish Oh that is horrible it definately was there fault. Sorry to hear about that. Swf.com is definately better but I started from the place you bought from in the beginning, but it's been a couple of years buying from them, so it sounds like they suck now. I would chew them out on this one. I hope your able to get shipping and handling also. Don't cross off all internet buys because of them. Just think of it this way, you informed others about this bad place. So now you've forwarned people. Sorry about your loss, alison

Oh, and the other people that got mad at me because I mentioned I bought from other places, You all have done it. I wasn't the one that mentioned the name of the place, I just said in the past I have ordered from them. SWF.com is king, and we all know that.

I just came across your question kevin when i searched up lions. Dwarf zebras are pretty hard to keep alive and i'm not surprised they died already.
