i went to this guys shack that had 2000 gallons of corals and he lectured me on my bioballs, deep sandbed, and ionic balance. He also said don't care for ph.... anybody wanna sum up what he might of said? after ten minuets i started watching all the corals...
also bought a salifert calcium test got a q about it what is light blue considered anybody got a pic? plz post if availiable

he is probably telling you it is important to have a good bio filter. the ionic balance, bioballs, and deep sandbed(2-3in.) are all good contributers to the biofilter. you SHOULD worry about the PH. 8.0-8.4.

no he said get rid of bioballs deep sandbed he also said to only add calcium, and iodine...
also whats good salt to use?

Bio Balls no Bio Balls, its more of a personal prefrence than anything else. There is no real evidence to support any negatives about them other than some people dont like them. As for the deep sand bed, there are pros and cons to both a deep and shallow sand bed. Anerobic bacteria vs a shallow sb without any. Im not knowledgable enough on the particulars of that but again user choice. As for pH I disagree its a very important part of your system and can have negative effects on all other levels if not properly maintained.
