little brown ball

ok i've had this little brown ball with hair at the bottem of my tank for a mo. or 2 just started my tank at the newyear. what is it, is it good? i've asked the lfs but they have know idea.

ok if it is what do i do with it? it's under the rock right now has not got any bigger or smaller. any idea where it came from. thanks Rick <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

I would consider it to be a tank inhabitant that is benefitial until it shows signs that it is causing a problem somehow. So I would leave it be for now. Sponges are amazing creatures, and I always thought they were quite simple until I did a little research about them.

so have anyone seen this befor? i'm new to slat water so i have no idea the 2 fish i had got ick and died so i'm letting my tank set for 30 days. for the ick to die off. just tryin to work on other stuuf other than fish.

star fish
am i doing the right thing?
ps. had the star fish from the start with the fish that got ick :(

Yeah, I have the same think. Mine is a more, say, peach color. It's about 1/4" in diametor. It is stuck to a rock with "hair" coming out of it. It's been there for a while, then it dissapeared, now it's back. I read a previous post that it might be a sponge. Who knows, but I agree with Kris, if it's not hurting anything, leave it alone.
