They hide under my crushed corals and come out when lights go out... What are they? Are my fish in trouble... Are my corals in trouble?? How do I get rid of them? Please help me with this issue.. I did see my blenny eat one.. When lights when on he saw him and ate him really quick..
I also see these critters in the tank under my aquarium where the water flows in then back to the tank. My tank is 240 gal

Is it a amphipod

Is it a copepod

LOL...I have never seen a copepod, they are too small. However, it doesn't matter. Isopods, copepods and amphepods are all yummy fish food. We pay big bucks to get live rocks with these critters in them...I wish I had your pods, I just seeded my seahorse tank.

I see copepods in my tank all the time...well, I see little white specks that scurry around on the glass...
If you look closely with good magnification you can tell they are critters with legs and such. The specks are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence.

I alawys think
I see them....tiny white dots, but not crawling on the glass, blown around by the power heads and I figure it must be floating dirt...LOL. The amphepods and isopods are easy to see.

It was labeled Copepod. I just did a quick search and found the pod I was looking for and posted it as it was labeled, it felt right to me at the time as all the Isopods I have seen looked like pill bugs. Ok just found a site that confirms it is a Munnid Isopod
Thanks for catching that Bang...

Some isopods are parasitic and feed on fish. Thus the reason I was posting pics for identification.

The Munnid Isopods are good ones to have.
This is what a bad Isopod looks like, a Cirrolanid. This one I found sucking blood out of a Clownfish. There is a similar Isopod with small eyes that is a detrivore.

Well, no way can I hope to see their beady little eyes for an ID....are the ones in your picture with the copepods good or bad isopods? Those of use with bad eyes need to know.
