little white things

i have these little white "things" on my glass. does anyone know what they are. i looked at them under a disecting scope and they looked like a shell with a worm inside. they dont move and have to be scraped off of the glass. the biggest ones are the size of pencil lead. there are no clusters of them, pretty evenly spaced in my tank. i dont think that they are bothering anything, but are just another hassle. i did have fish in the tank but i moved them to a bigger one. i also have coral and 30lbs of LR with CC. they may have come from my LR or coral. i was just wondering if anyone could tell me more since my invertabrate zoology teacher couldnt.

sounds like pods to me. They wont hurt the tank and the mandarins love them.

they are probally not pods because pods move around. I think I know what your talking about are they spiral shaped?

I beleive i get the same type of things growing on my glass. Mine are hard to scrape off and take quite a few passes with the magnet cleaner. Chris are you taking zoology?

yeah i am just finishing my invert. zoo. class next week. the little white things are spirle shaped. have you heard of them. i never saw my manderines eat any of them.

Are you majoring in Zoology? I got accepted into a Zoology program at a local college. I am wondering if you could tell me anything about any of the classes you have taken? Any tips or info would be awesome? Thanks.

yeah i can tell you acouple of things. my classes arent too hard but i still have to study my butt off. we learn alot about how the organisms work and do around 20 disections per quarter. the main thing that our teacher is trying to get us to learn are the scientific name and alot of them are kind of hard to say. this year everyone has to do a speach on one invert. what you learn kind of verys alittle from class to class (ex. zoo. is not the same class as invert. zoo.) i hope you like your classes and i helped alittle let me know if you have anymore questions.

hey i have noticed a few of these on my glass over the last couple of days too. very small white spiral things, and I tried to scrape them as well but they are hard to get off, what are they????

I think what you have are pods, but are they moving around? If they are, they are not pods, but are they spiral-shaped?
