Live Brine Shrimp

I went to the lfs yesterday and I saw this cup of a couple hunderd live brine shrimp for sale for $.75. So I bought them and all my fish went hog wild over them even my mandarin which was very exciting to see. Question is this a good thing to feed my fish and cbs on a daily basis, nutrionally and all that. Being that cheap and it last for like 4-5 days seems like a win win situation. Just Curious..............Thanks :)

I agree with James...My fish get them as a once in a while treat...I have also heard their nutritional value is not great as adults...Don't mean to steal your thunder, James. Just confirming...

have any of you guys tried to hatch those brine shrimp eggs they sell? i was wondering if it would be worthwhile to harvest some live brine shrimp every now and then.

I read about a formula to bio-enrich baby and adult live brine.
Its a mixture of codliver oil, water, and lecithin. You can buy lecithin at vitamin stores. Mix the three together for 30 sec. and feed to the baby brine (6 hr old) for 12 hrs then feed to fish.
or feed to adult brine for 1-2 hours then feed to fish.
It is suppose to boost the amount of beneficial fatty acids and vitamins to make them more nutritional.
Haven't tried it, but I might. I am going to start a brine culture and see what happens. I will report my results.

Hi,
I am sorry, BUT I have hatched the brine shrimp twice in the hatchery AND i think these things are so darn SMALL that you have to stare at them to see IF they hatched! Then, try getting them into your tank without getting the water in too!!!!!! Nevermind rinsing them!!
maybe I am seeing something different here,, But I am goin with frozen Mysis. This stuff is supposed to be FANTASTIC and filled with nutrition... anyone else..?? Just my 2 cents...

Sorry chef this is a little OT for your question but I need to ask...I bought some frozen daphnia at my LFS and I read the package later on and it said great for freshwater fish...should I still use it?
