If your refering to macro algae.
Good- Nice looking, can help benifit in your tank if properly pruned. Depending on what kind of macro algae, some fish like angels might eat it.
Bad- Going asexual meaning that it will release what ever it has taken meaning releasing phosphates which will add more unwanted algae growth in your tank wiether it be hair algae or cyno.
It can take over your tank and might even be impossible to get rid of.
Bad always out weighs the good when adding macro algae into your display tank.
If theres one macro algae i might recommend is halmeda, it is controllable and does grow in a slower rate. But it does use up Calcium in your tank so just check your Ca levels.

Good job Ralph I mean Entice :D
One thing I will never do again is add macro algea to my main display, and that goes double for the grape stuff. Fuge yes, main never again.
Macro algea 's can make an impact on the nutrient level of an aquarium, but like stated it can sometimes backfire in the form of going sexual and releasing these nutrients back into the water colum almost all at once if proper care is not taken.
It is sorta like having an under water garden. some people have to prune a whole 5 gallon bucket out of thier refugiums they have so much of it.
They have there uses, tangs use them as food too.
Not really many marine plants, they are algea's.
