Live rock arriving late?

I just ordered Cured Live Rock from Saltwaterfish.com. It was supposed to arrive 2nd day air, but it did not. If it arrives late will it still be good to put directly into my tank, or will it be considered uncured from sitting around in a FedEx terminal or on a truck for an extra day? The weather has been really cold here and that is also a concern of mine. Any Ideas? Will I have to Re-cure the rock for weeks and use a bunch of saltwater? Thanks....

You should cure all rock. I usually only add a little bit at a time and I don't cure mine that way though.

not knowing how big your tank is, Edit i see by your profile 55 gal tank!
how much LR you already have,
how old your tank is,
how much new LR your putting in all becomes a factor !
I would say if you have an established tank ( 6mos+) and your only adding olny a small amout of LR you should have no real problems, may still get some sort of a cycle from die off! But with a skimmer and such you should be fine!
These are only my thoughts, other may and probably will disagree!

My tank is a 55 gal. and has been going for about 5 weeks. I have no live rock at all right now, only base rock. I am adding about 20 lbs. of Live rock. I do not have a skimmer yet but I am using an Emperor 400 w/biowheels and a good powerhead for circulation if that helps.

Do you have anything in there but the hermits? If not and you put in the LR you may cause a small cycle, if you have fish! You may want to invest the time and money in a tub with a heater and power head and let is cure a little, adding a little at a time, it's up to you!

Nice, once it gets there drop it in the tank , watch for a amonia spike for a week or so before adding anything ! It make take out the hermits depending on how strong the spike is! Good Luck! BTW you will be able to tell right away if the LR is going to cause a spike, it will smell to high heaven! :hilarious

Thanks, I don't mind if it smells like a cat litter box for awhile as long as my wife doesn't complain. It may be good for the tank to go through a cycle anyway.
Thanks again...

Without any fish - ad the rock directly to the tank. It might a slight cycle, but the bacteria on the rock will further "cycle" your tank.
Many people use LR and LS to cycle their tank.

Thanks, I just called FedEx again and it seems it is sitting in Memphis (about 200 miles from me) so it sounds like it won't be here until tomorrow. I don't know how a 2nd day air package can take 4 days. So I hope I don't get a box of Ammonia when it arrives.
Thanks again,

one thing you should do is get a bucket of salt water, and lightly scrub your rock, take off anything that looks too dead, and rinse in bucket befor adding to tank. this will help with the smell and having too much dead stuff.
